Supporting Veterans and their Caregivers: Resources, Respite, and Private Care Options

Caring for a veteran is a profound honor—one rooted in gratitude, respect, and a shared commitment to their well-being. Many veterans live with service-related injuries, chronic illnesses, or emotional trauma that require ongoing care and understanding. Behind every veteran is often a dedicated caregiver who gives time, energy, and love to ensure their comfort, safety, and dignity at home.

At Visiting Nurse Association of Florida, we recognize the tremendous responsibility that comes with being a veteran caregiver. Through our partnership with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), we are proud to deliver compassionate, high-quality home health services designed specifically for veterans and their families across Florida.

Veteran-Focused Care You Can Trust

Whether your loved one needs skilled medical care or personal support at home, our experienced team is here to help.

We provide:

    • Therapy Services: Physical, occupational, and speech therapy to promote recovery, mobility, and independence

Our caregivers and clinicians are trained to understand the unique physical, emotional, and social needs of veterans. Every patient we serve receives care that honors their service and preserves their dignity.

A Dedicated Veteran Services Team

We go beyond traditional home health care. Our Regional Director of Veterans Business Development and our specialized veteran care team help veterans and their families navigate the VA process, coordinate referrals, and arrange care that fits their goals, schedule, and lifestyle.

With a presence in multiple Florida regions, VNA of Florida brings consistent, reliable care directly to veterans’ homes, ensuring comfort, convenience, and peace of mind every step of the way.

Support for Veteran Caregivers

Behind every veteran receiving care, there is often a caregiver who needs support too. Caregivers play a vital role in maintaining their loved one’s health and independence, but it is equally important that they have opportunities to rest and recharge.

Through the VNA of Florida’s private care services, families can access respite care, which provides temporary in-home assistance so caregivers can take a break while ensuring their loved one continues receiving exceptional care.

Private care services can include:

    • Personal care assistance such as bathing, grooming, and mobility support
    • Companionship and supervision for safety and engagement
    • Light housekeeping, meal preparation, and errands

Respite care and private care options give caregivers the flexibility and reassurance they need to maintain their own well-being while continuing to provide the best care possible for their loved one.
