The Visiting Nurse Association of Florida’s charitable organization, the Visiting Nurse Foundation, recently held its 26th Annual Charity Golf Tournament and Auction at Willoughby Golf Club in Stuart, Florida.

The two-part event commenced on Thursday, May 9th and included a live and silent auction, raffle baskets, live music, cocktails, and a chef-prepared dinner. On Friday, May 10th, a 21-team golf scramble was held that included a picnic lunch, putting contest, golf ball launcher, margarita station, chef-prepared dinner, and awards ceremony.

Winners of the golf tournament include:

  • 1st place Team Medline Industries, Inc.—Peter Sliwa, Travis Atchley, Trent McGoffin and Darren Frost
  • 2nd place – Team Bowman Consulting—Jerry Compton, Mike Houston, Jeb Acuff and Brendan Kelly
  • 3rd place – Team Cleveland Clinic Martin Health—Tom Tarsia, Brent Colby, Sal Buscema and Matt Scheider

The charity golf tournament and auction was sponsored by several distinguished organizations, including Dunn Capital Management as the Title Sponsor, Cleveland Clinic Martin Health as the Lead Auction Sponsor, and Medline Industries, Inc. as the Lead Golf Sponsor.

Both the auction and golf tournament brought in record attendance and donation amounts this year. In total, over $80,000 was raised by the generous community members and businesses involved.

“I am overjoyed by all of the support and financial donations. The significant funds raised this year will help us continue our efforts to provide free, quality medical care to the uninsured members of our community,” said Alison Partin, Fundraising Coordinator for the Visiting Nurse Foundation.

All proceeds from the VNA of Florida’s annual charity golf tournament and auction directly benefit the Visiting Nurse Foundation, which uses the charitable contributions to fund the Florence Nightingale Express mobile medical clinic, provide back-to-school physicals, offer college scholarships to nursing students, provide medically necessary home improvements and structural alterations for the disabled, and much more.

Since its creation in 1987, the Visiting Nurse Foundation has been funded solely by donations from present and former patients, employees, community members, members of the Florence Nightingale Society, and fundraising events like the Annual Charity Golf Tournament and Auction, and the Annual Charity Sporting Clay Shoot, which is being held this year on October 19th at Quail Creek Plantation in Okeechobee, FL.
