The Visiting Nurse Association of Florida’s charitable organization, the Visiting Nurse Foundation, recently held its 25th Annual Charity Golf Tournament and Silent Auction at Willoughby Golf Club in Stuart, Florida. The event commenced with a cocktail reception and silent auction on Thursday, May 10th followed by a 20-team golf scramble on Friday, May 11th. The events were sponsored by several distinguished organizations, including Dunn Capital Management as the Title Sponsor, Martin Health System as the Lead Auction Sponsor, and Medline as the Lead Golf Sponsor.

“I’m so pleased that a very strong segment of our community showed support for our events and raised significant funds for our charity. This allows us to continue providing the highest level of medical care to the communities we serve,” said Greg Wheeler, the Executive Vice President of the Foundation.

Both the silent auction and golf tournament brought in record attendance and donation amounts this year. In total, over $60,000 was raised by the generous community members and businesses involved. “We can’t thank them enough—all of the local businesses, those in attendance and the VNA employees who donated money, products, or services,” said Wheeler.

The highlight of the golf tournament was the Golf Ball Pro Launcher provided by Par4Entertainment. All teams agreed both the launcher and the beautiful weather made for a wonderful day of golf at Willoughby, including our team winners – Seacoast Bank which took first place, Crary Buchanan which placed second, and Martin Health System which placed third.

All proceeds from the two-part event directly benefit the Visiting Nurse Foundation and its dedication to providing free healthcare, disease prevention, and education to those in need. The Foundation uses charitable contributions from its events to fund the Florence Nightingale Express mobile medical clinic, back-to-school physicals, college scholarships for nursing students, medically necessary home improvements and structural alterations for the disabled, and much more.

Since its creation in 1987, the Visiting Nurse Foundation has been funded solely by donations from present and former patients, employees, community members, and fundraising events like the Annual Charity Golf Tournament and Silent Auction, and the Annual Charity Sporting Clay Shoot, which is being held this year on October 20th at Quail Creek Plantation in Okeechobee, FL.
