The Nightingale Express: Continuing Our Mission of Community Care

 
In 2006, the Florence Nightingale Express, VNA of Florida’s mobile medical clinic, was launched as an extension of the Visiting Nurse Foundation. Inspired by the urgent need for accessible healthcare following Hurricane Katrina, the mobile clinic became a vital resource for underserved communities, delivering essential medical services, preventive care, and health education.
 
In 2024, we are proud to introduce the Nightingale Express, a brand-new mobile medical clinic that will carry on this mission. With the retirement of the original Florence Nightingale Express, our commitment to providing compassionate, high-quality care remains stronger than ever.

Bringing Healthcare to Our Community

Through partnerships with House of Hope, Salvation Army, Boys and Girls Club Martin County, Mary's Kitchen, and other outreach organizations, the Nightingale Express provides essential health services to those who need it most. Our team offers:
 
  • - General wellness visits
  • - Physicals (including back-to-school and sports physicals)
  • - Chronic illness consultations
  • - Blood pressure checks
  • - Diabetes counseling
  • - Health education and prevention
While we provide comprehensive care, we do not treat medical emergencies.

The Nightingale Express is fully funded by donations to the Visiting Nurse Foundation. Through this continued support, we are able to provide free medical services to vulnerable populations, ensuring that healthcare remains accessible to all.
